West Virginia University now has a new Kid’s Corner, thanks to a project created by their library team.
And WVU kids can also show their Golden Bear Spirit with Monty’s Cub Club, a program for those 16 and younger open to everyone.
Dean of students Emily Sands says the funds came through a transformation grant.
“We have a number of students that have younger siblings or children of their own and that makes it difficult to study sometimes,” said Sands. “So Manju’s (Panta) idea was to create a Kid’s Corner here on campus, as you can see. “It’s just a nice, quiet place that the kids can play while their parents or siblings sit here and study for their college classes.”
According to Sands, Kid’s Corner offers many benefits… including better study skills, study habits for the students, more family centeredness.
“Better opportunities for our students to succeed,” she said, adding that Kid’s Corner is open anytime the Learning Commons is open.
