WVU Basketball News – May 24

WOAY – West Virginia forward Sagaba Konate announced Thursday he is withdrawing from the NBA Draft and returning to Morgantown for his junior season.

Konate, a native of Bamako, Mali, averaged better than 10 points and seven rebounds a game in 2017-18 for WVU, earning All-Big 12 Third Team and All-Defensive Team honors. He was second nationally in blocked shots as the Mountaineers reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Also on Thursday, West Virginia learned they will be at Tennessee on January 26, 2019 as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. WVU only has one win in the Challenge but is 5-3 against the Volunteers. This announcement follows Wednesday’s news that WVU will also play in the Jimmy V Classic in December against Florida.
