CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia Public Broadcasting has decided to close its Beckley TV studios to save almost $100,000 a year.
Executive director Scott Finn told the Charleston Gazette-Mail that it will take up to a year or longer to make the move. He said none of the nine employees will be let go. A decision as to whether they commute to Charleston or work from home will be made later.
WVPB hopes to sell or lease the building, which is in Beaver. Finn says he still hopes to have a presence in Beckley, perhaps opening a bureau downtown.
