Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is proposing several legislative rule changes and wants to hear from the public. Â
The WVDNR has officially filed the proposed updates with the Secretary of State’s office and is now accepting public comments through July 24. Â
Among the proposed changes: repealing outdated rules on small arms hunting, creating new standards for wildlife rehabilitation, removing horsepower restrictions on certain waterways, and simplifying hunting and trapping regulations. Â
One major update eliminates the need for an A1 pistol stamp when hunting with a handgun. Â
Another clarifies the rules around electric motors for boats. Â
