Charleston, WV (WOAY) – The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) is proposing several legislative rule changes and wants to hear from the public.
The WVDNR has officially filed the proposed updates with the Secretary of State’s office and is now accepting public comments through July 24.
Among the proposed changes: repealing outdated rules on small arms hunting, creating new standards for wildlife rehabilitation, removing horsepower restrictions on certain waterways, and simplifying hunting and trapping regulations.
One major update eliminates the need for an A1 pistol stamp when hunting with a handgun.
Another clarifies the rules around electric motors for boats.
