WVDA Opens Email Hotline for Invasive Pests

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture has opened an email hotline for the early detection of invasive pests.

Residents in West Virginia will now be able to report pests that they believe may be invasive, by submitting a picture and description of any damage to buildings or plantsĀ and their location (nearest town) to bugbusters@wvda.us.

If it raises concerns for the WVDA, a visit to the property may be scheduled.

Two of the species on their radar are the Asian longhorned beetle and the spotted lanternfly.

If you have any questions about invasive species and the new hotline, you can contact 304-558-2212.
