WV school board to appeal Nicholas consolidation order

CHARLESTON, WV (BY: RYAN QUINN, CHARLESTON GAZETTE-MAIL) – The West Virginia Board of Education, which denied a Nicholas County school consolidation plan earlier this year, voted Thursday to appeal a circuit judge’s reversal of its decision.

The voice vote with no nays heard came after state board members spent over an hour in closed session. All state board member were there; one board member, Jim Wilson, said he abstained from the vote.

Nicholas County Board of Education members plan to consolidate five schools in Richwood, Summersville and Craigsville into a single campus near Summersville.
