WV Parkways Authority And State Police Increase Highway Patrol

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The WV Parkways Authority, PSC Patrols, and State Police are increasing truck patrols on the Turnpike.

This increase in truck patrols is to ensure the safety of drivers that travel along the turnpike. PSC patrol unit will perform safety inspections around the clock, 24 hour basis. To keep the highways safe and protect drivers from accidents. Citations will be issued to drivers if they are found speeding and if the are operating defective equipment on the West Virginia Turnpike. The state police oversee law enforcement along the turnpike and other areas with high fatality rate like Camp Creek and Tunnel Hill.

” Speed, aggressive driving, reckless driving, driving while impaired. I mean we will be looking for everything. safety is your main objective we want to decrease the fatality rate and we hope that these efforts will do that.” Said Sgt. Mark Elswick, WV State Police Troop 7

There will be a strong emphasis on truck patrol but commercial motor vehicles, and passenger vehicles are not excluded. Drive carefully.
