Workforce WV urges users to beware of fraudulent postings on database

CHARLESTON,WV (WOAY) – If you’re searching for a job Workforce West Virginia is warning you about a fraudulent employer.

In a release by Workforce, earlier this month, a person posing as an employer posted 12 false positions on their job seeker online database.

Workforce West Virginia became aware of the fraudulent activity, and that the person’s access was revoked immediately.

They add the perpetrator also sent fake emails that appeared to come from Workforce West Virginia with job offers for various employers.

Workforce shared some tips to keep in mind when browsing their database.

  • Never pay a potential employer for an interview or meeting about possible employment.
  • Always visit the company’s website to ensure credibility.
  • Research the employer before providing any personal information, a resume or any other data to potential employers.

Job seekers who believe they may be at risk should contact the WorkForce West Virginia Main Office at 1-800-252-JOBS.
