Women’s Expo Celebrates 20 Years

BECKLEY–  Each year in around this time Southern Communications puts on the Women’s Expo in Beckley. General Manager Jay Quesenberry says this year is going to be bigger and better than ever.

“This is our 20th year. We have done this for 20 years, it’s hard to believe. It’s just really exciting because it’s been a great show. There have been lots of people and lots of different things over 20 years but of course we are celebrating somewhat this year by giving away some great prizes during the show. The first 50 people in line both on Friday and Saturday will get a $25 little general gas card. And via air is offering round trip air fare for two that we will be giving away all weekend long.”

Reagrdless of what you are interested in, this community event has something for you.

“We have a gentlemen that comes down from Amish country in Ohio every year and samples cheese. We all have another Amish type business coming from Ohio that is sampling different types of jerky. That’s just some of the food items but we have everything from Big Bopper who will record a video with you to jewelry to fashion to cosmetics. Just about everything you can think of for and about women through out the community is in the show including several auto dealers and it’s just a good variety of things for and about women. Now we say for and about women but that also includes men and families as well.”

So why do Quesenberry and his team put so much effort into an event like this every year? For him the answer is simple.

“It brings the community together and these vendors together all in one convenient location where people can do a lot of things and enjoy different services all in one location. Plus this time of the year people have cabin fever and are anxious to get out and do things. This makes a great opportunity for people to spend a couple days with us.”

Several businesses in Beckley have free tickets to the expo so be sure to get your hands on some of those because this perfect girl’s day get away is all doable on a tank of gas.
