Woman faces charges in connection with burglary in Fayette County

Boomer, WV (WOAY) A woman is in police custody facing charges in connection with a burglary in Fayette County.

According to police records, on January 24, at almost 4:00 pm, troopers received a call reporting a burglary on Gauley River Road in Boomer.

The West Virginia State Police Beckley Dispatch received the call from the married couple who own the home, reporting an unknown person wearing dark clothes attempting to break into the property.

No one was home at the time of the incident.

The homeowners confirmed to dispatch that they witnessed the break-in using cameras set up on the property.

Troopers arrived at the residence and discovered a broken window at the back of the home and a bag of clothes lying outside the window.

Authorities found the suspect inside the home, hiding beneath a kitchen table.

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Melissa Harper, was transported to the WV State Police Detachment in Oak Hill for processing.

Harper now awaits further court proceedings in Southern Regional Jail on $25,000 bail.
