Winter Weather Blasts the Area Wednesday; Better Weekend Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today has been a relatively calm day with mostly cloudy skies. However, winter is rearing its head once again tomorrow through Thursday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has your latest forecast:

Snow will start before daybreak Wednesday morning across the region, covering most roads with its fluff before morning commutes. Main roads will lose the snow after 10am, but ice will still be a threat on all roads and secondary roads will be snow for your evening commutes. Thursday will bring snow squalls early in the morning before daybreak, then produce bursts of snow similar to last weekend before the system moves out of the area. Most areas will see 3-6″ of snow accumulating, while the mountains will see more. This snowfall will unfortunately hinder or halt flood recovery.

Please stay safe and be prepared as the system starts heading our way. Make sure to take precautions when traveling through the snow by driving slower and maintaining a safe following distance. With the cold air coming through as well, keep cabinets open and faucets dripping to prevent pipe damage in your home.

Friday and the weekend are looking much better, with Saturday only having a slight chance of a pop-up snow shower while Friday and Sunday show partly cloudy skies throughout. This is a much needed break for our region. Monday continues the great weather as we break into the high forties before before Tuesday brings a slight rain chance to the area.
