Winter Heating Bills Could be Lower This Year

CHARLESTON– For those of you who use natural gas to heat your home, some good news as your bills could be lower this winter.

Gas companies across the state are asking the public service commission to lower part of their rates. The commission does not decide the price of natural gas, that is determined by the competitive markets. Commissioners will now study their past purchasing practices and determine the lowest rate possible.

Decrease Requests Include:

  • Mountaineer Gas Company: 3.95%
  • Hope Gas/Dominion Energy: 5.03%
  • Lumberport-Shinnston Gas:5.9%
  • Peoples Gas: 4.8%
