Winds stick around, but rain holds off for the rest of the weekend

Good evening, Southern West Virginia! We’re in for a breezy night, especially across our higher elevations. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for portions of the region’s mountain tops through 2 AM tonight, with wind gusts up to 50 mph possible. These gusts are strong enough to knock down tree limbs or even cause minor damage, so be mindful of any loose objects or potential hazards near your home.

The good news? Rain chances are holding off through the rest of the weekend, allowing for a dry and mostly clear close to Sunday. Winds will gradually settle down overnight, though it’ll still be breezy as we start the new week. Gusts on Monday are expected to reach 25–30 mph, but the strongest winds will be behind us after tonight.

Temperatures will stay near average through the first half of the week, but we’re eyeing a cool-down toward the end of the week, with highs only in the upper 50s by Thursday—a noticeable change from the milder weather we’ve enjoyed lately.

As for rain, chances return on Monday and stick around through Thursday, with Tuesday and Wednesday shaping up to be the wettest days in the forecast. Keep the umbrella handy and stay weather-aware as we head into an unsettled stretch.

Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
