West Virginia women’s soccer picked to finish 4th in Big 12

(WOAY) – For the first time since 2012, West Virginia isn’t the favorite to win the Big 12 in women’s soccer.

In the Big 12’s 2020 Preseason Poll, the Mountaineers were picked to finish fourth behind Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and TCU. They did not receive a first-place vote.

Last year, West Virginia finished 12-8-2 and made it to their 20th consecutive NCAA tournament. They return six of their top nine goalscorers from 2019.

This week, the team kicked off its first week of preseason training with a bevy of restriction in place to keep players socially distanced. Players are split into three different training groups with no access to the locker room.

The Big 12 has yet to announce its women’s soccer schedule.
