West Virginia head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown: “I’m trying to be as creative as I can”

(WOAY) – West Virginia women’s soccer began training this past week. But this preseason is unlike any other for head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown, who is entering her 25th season in Morgantown.

Instead of training together, the team is divided into three groups, with no co-mingling. Each group warms up, practices and recovers separately. Masks are required at all times. Meals are individualized. The Mountaineers’ plan doesn’t even allow for 11 on 11 scrimmages, which would make for too many people on the field.

Izzo-Brown says her players have bought into the new protocols in place and are happy to get back on the field.
