West Virginia Couple Arrested For Sexually Abusing An Infant & Recording It

West Virginia State Police have charged a woman after they say she sexually abused an infant.

Roseanna Thompson, 45, of Charleston is charged with first-degree sexual abuse, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.The complaint said Thompson and Richard Wilson Smith II had custody of the baby girl in 2015 at their home in the South Charleston area of Kanawha County. Smith was arrested early Wednesday morning on various charges out of Mason County, including possession of child pornography.

“The infant victim was physically helpless and well below the age of 12,” according to court documents.

At the time of the incident, both Thompson and Smith filmed themselves and the baby while engaging in sexual conduct, according to investigators.

Court documents said they have physical evidence, photographic evidence, witness statements and a confession from the defendant.

Thompson was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court on Wednesday. Her bond was set at $100,000.
