West Virginia 3-year-old found along street; parents charged

MADISON, WV (AP) – Police in Madison say they’ve arrested the parents of a 3-year-old girl who was found in the early morning hours along a street wearing only a diaper.

Madison Police Chief Chet Burgess tells media outlets that Stephen Brian Ball and Norrieca Ann Bryant were arraigned on child abuse charges Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, a motorist who was heading to work indicated he almost hit the girl while driving on state Route 85 and called police about 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The complaint says Bryant and Ball said they didn’t know how the child got out. Burgess says it was 39 degrees outside when the girl was found.

The child was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

It wasn’t immediately known whether Ball and Bryant have attorneys.
