FAYETTEVILLE (WOAY)- “That was a member of my family.”
Lenza Paul is heartbroken. Her 14-year old horse, Molly, was shot and killed Wednesday evening in her Fayetteville pasture.
“My neighbor had asked if there was a gunshot wound and I hadn’t seen one at the time,” Paul said. “I found her up at the shed and found blood on her. She was deteriorating rapidly and that euthanasia was the only humane option.”
Paul says she thinks someone must’ve driven along the road, stepped out and shot the horse by her feeder.
“I don’t understand why someone would do this and why Molly? I mean I just couldn’t stop thinking why?” Paul said.
Paul and her mother are fighting back tears Thursday. They say their other horse has been calling out for Molly all day. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.
