NEW MEXICO– A Bluefield man wanted in connection to an armed robbery has been detained in New Mexico.
Michael Hopkins was wanted after a robbery at Rosie’s, a video lottery parlor, on Cumberland Road on August 8th.
Police tell The Bluefield Daily Telegraph Hopkins was captured in New Mexico in a stolen car. He was about 50 miles from the border and police suspect he was going to try to cross.
Hopkins has a violent past. He has previously been convicted of second-degree murder, armed robbery and two different wanton endangerment charges.
He is now facing a second-degree armed robbery charge.
