UPDATE: Raleigh County Deputies Need Your Help With Information After A 19-Year-Old Was Struck By A Vehicle

UPDATE: SHADY SPRING, WV (WOAY) –  The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department needs your help with information regarding a 19-year-old that was struck by a vehicle.

On 9/13/2018 a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Briarwood Drive just behind the Shady Spring High School Football Stadium. The incident occurred during the 4th Quarter of the Independence vs. Shady Spring football game at approximately 9:30 pm. It is common practice for game film to be taken by coaches and staff as well as video taken by parents and relatives.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance from the public. Any person who captured the incident on video or who witnessed the collision is asked to come forward with any information regarding this incident. Please contact Sergeant J. L. Redden at (304) 255-9300.


UPDATE: SHADY SPRING, WV (WOAY) – WOAY is told that the person is being taken by an ambulance and not airlifted, due to no flights available.

SHADY SPRING, WV (WOAY) – One person is being airlifted after being struck by a car in Shady Spring.

Officials tell WOAY that at around 9:45 pm a call came in of a pedestrian being struck on Briarwood Drive near Shady Spring High School.  The persons’ age and the condition is unknown at this time.

Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, Ghent Fire, Beaver Fire, Jan-Care Ambulance, Best Ambulance, and Ghent Ambulance responded to the scene.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
