UPDATE: Man who allegedly murdered another man in Beckley appears in Court

UPDATE: BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A man who allegedly murdered another man in Beckley appears in court.

Jalen Alexander allegedly shot and killed Maurice Emmanuel Webster back on May 17, 2019.  Alexander was eventually arrested in Winston-Salem, NC back on May 28, 2019.

Alexander pled not guilty, and his next scheduled court date is April 27, 2020, at 9 am.


UPDATE: BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A man wanted for murder has been arrested.

According to Beckley Police, Jalen Malik Alexander was arrested by police in Winston-Salem, NC. Jalen Malik Alexander was wanted for a murder that took place in Beckley on May 17, 2019.

He will remain in custody in North Carolina pending extradition proceedings.


UPDATE: BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Beckley Police are looking for a man wanted for shooting and killing another man.

Arrest warrants have been obtained in relation to a homicide investigation that took place in Beckley on 5/17/2019.  Jalen Malik Alexander is now wanted in regard to his involvement in the murder of Maurice Emmanuel Webster. Alexander faces the charge of First Degree Murder, and he is to be considered presently armed and dangerous.

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The Beckley Police Department is investigating a homicide.

“On Friday, May 17, 2019, at approximately 1:19 am, Officers from the Beckley Police Department responded to a shooting at the Hargrove Street Apartments located at 222 Hargrove Street.

Upon their arrival, officers located MAURICE EMMANUEL WEBSTER, a twenty-two-year-old black male suffering from a gunshot wound. Lifesaving measures were attempted; however, WEBSTER died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time, and this is an active investigation.
