UPDATE: Man charged in connection to a shooting incident in Fayette County

UPDATE: ANSTED, WV (WOAY) – One man has been charged in connection to a shooting incident in Fayette County.

After consulting with the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the Sheriff’s Department obtained an arrest warrant for the subject who discharged the firearm in this incident.

Gerald Lee Thomas Jr of Ansted turned himself in yesterday to the Sheriff’s Department to answer the warrant for the felony offense of Wanton Endangerment.

His bond was set at $5,000 by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office and will now await court proceedings.

ANSTED, WV (WOAY) – An Ansted man suffered injuries from an alleged gunshot on Monday evening.

Sheriff Mike Fridley says, at about 8:00 PM yesterday evening, notification was received of a person in the Ansted area who was claiming to have received injuries in the lower extremities from a potential gunshot.

Further investigation indicates that the victim may have sustained wounds from a .38 caliber handgun loaded with “snake shot”. Snake shot is a round used for shooting snakes or other vermin that is loaded with many very small pellets much like a shotgun shell but on a much smaller scale.

The victim was taken to CAMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The circumstances of the shooting are still under preliminary investigation.
