UPDATE: Investigation continues after shooting in Summersville

UPDATE: SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) Monday, July 13, 2020, at 3:15 pm – An investigation is ongoing after a shooting incident took place in Summersville on Saturday night.

Details are still limited, but police have confirmed that two deputies were involved in a shooting of a suspect off Phillips Run Road.

A call came in that Carl Raines, 50 was firing a gun at multiple people in the area.

When deputies arrived, the victim fired a handgun at them and gunfire as exchanged and Mr. Raines was disarmed after being hit.

The victim was flown due to injuries and is still at CAMC being treated.

The West Virginia State Police in Lewisburg is handling the investigation because it involved two deputies in Nicholas County.

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (WOAY) – Deputies are currently on the scene of a shooting off of Phillips Run Road in Summersville.

According to deputies, the shooter is refusing to surrender, and there may be possible fatalities. One injury has been reported, and that person has been airlifted to a hospital.
