UPDATE: Investigation complete after a nine-year-old was fatally struck by a truck in Rainelle

UPDATE: (Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at 2 pm) RAINELLE, WV (WOAY) – Investigation is complete that involved a child being struck by a truck.

Rainelle Police Chief Dean Fankell says the investigation is complete and that no charges are pending at this time.

The incident happened on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. A nine-year-old boy was struck by a truck, and he later died at a hospital due to the injuries.

UPDATE: (Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at 12 pm) RAINELLE, WV (WOAY) – A child that was struck by a truck in Rainelle has passed away.

Rainelle Police tell WOAY that the child was a nine-year-old boy.

No other information is being released at this time. Rainelle Police says the investigation is ongoing.

RAINELLE, WV (WOAY) – A child was struck by a truck in Rainelle and was flown to Roanoke.

Greenbrier County Dispatchers tell WOAY the call came in at around 1:12 pm in Rainelle. The child was reportedly flown to a hospital in Roanoke.

Rainelle Fire, Quinwood EMS, State Police, Rainelle Police, Greenbrier County Sheriff‘s Department, Rupert Fire, and Clintonville Fire all responded.
