UPDATE: Hearing held for Mercer County man accused of feeding a child dog feces

UPDATE: Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at 4:30 pm – PRINCETON, WV (WOAY) – There was a pre-trial hearing this afternoon at the Mercer County Courthouse for Dakota Dillow.

Dillow was accused of sexually assaulting a child, as well as for child abuse. The reason for this accusation is feeding a child dog feces. There were no testimonies taken today, and the only groups present were the accused, Assistant Public Defender John Byrd and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Adam Wolfe.

In the pre-trial today, they brought a new attorney into the case for the defense. The defense moved to continue the trial going forward, and the court granted the motion.

The child told his mother, Kristy Asbury, that Dillow had been physically violent to him in the past, but she did not believe her son and failed to notify CPS or law enforcement.

The trial date has been set for October 27th at 9:30 a.m. at the County Courthouse.


Original Story: February 3, 2020, at 3:50 pm – ROCK, WV (WOAY) – A mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after a nine-year-old child disclosed ongoing abuse.

According to documents, a nine-year-old child told officers that his mother’s boyfriend, Dakota Dillow, made him eat dog feces, drink urine, and even hit him in the back of the head with a metal toy gun. The child stated that Dillow sexually assaulted him at one point as well.

The child told his mother, Kristy Asbury, that Dillow had been physically violent to him in the past, but she did not believe her son and failed to notify CPS or law enforcement.

Dakota Dillow has been charged with sexual assault in the first degree and malicious assault. He is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a $50,000 bond. Kristy Asbury has been charged with child neglect resulting in injury and is being held in Southern Regional Jail under a $25,000 bond.
