UPDATE: Beckley Police investigating four reports of shots fired calls from Wednesday night

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 1:45 pm UPDATE: On July 15, 2020, between 9:00 p.m. and midnight, the Beckley Police Department responded to four reports of shots fired.

One report was in the 200 Block of Hargrove Street at the Hargrove Street Apartments, one report was in the 200 Block of Plumley Avenue and two incidents were reported in the 100 Block of Dock Street.

Officers located shell casings in the roadway of Hargrove Street and witnesses reported a black passenger car drove by as an unknown male fired several shots in the direction of the apartment complex.  No property damage or injuries were reported. No arrests have been made in connection to this incident.

Officers checked the area of Plumley Avenue and were unable to locate any shell casings, property damage, or injuries, and no additional information was obtained concerning a suspect.

Officers located a 29-year-old male victim at a residence in the 100 Block of Dock Street suffering from gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.  The victim was uncooperative and refused to provide information as to where the shooting occurred and/or who was involved in the shooting.  The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  No arrests have been made in connection to this incident.

Officers located a vehicle partially blocking the roadway on Brooks Street near the intersection with Dock Street making it difficult for emergency responders (Fire Department & EMS) to reach and treat the injured victim.  The vehicle did not have a registration plate attached and had an expired New Jersey Inspection Sticker.  The vehicle was towed and during the inventory, officers discovered several firearms and suspected drugs.  Officers obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and ultimately recovered six firearms, over two-pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $214,000.00, forty-seven grams of an unknown substance, and a small amount of marijuana.  No arrests have been made at this time.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim on Dock Street and one male was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This victim has been uncooperative and it is unknown where the shooting occurred or if it is connected to the shots fired incident.
