Two people arrested on drug and child neglect charges

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY)- A Fayette County pair is in jail on drug charges. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information regarding this incident.

A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy was on routine patrol in the Lookout area on U.S. Route 60. The Deputy conducted a stop on a vehicle for a traffic infraction. A positive indication by a Sheriff’s K-9 resulted in a search of the vehicle. The search yielded several individually packaged bags of methamphetamines and one bag containing fentanyl.  The vehicle occupied by two adults and three juveniles.

Both adult occupants of the vehicle, Cassie Bennett and Christopher Brown of Nallen, were arrested and charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver Narcotics, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and 3 counts of Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury due to the children’s potential access and exposure to the dangerous narcotics in the vehicle.  Both were transported to the Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
