MT. HOPE, WV (WOAY) – Two parents are in jail facing child neglect charges, another charged with intent.
According to court documents, Raleigh County deputies executed a search warrant at home in Mt. Hope. During the search warrant, officers located approximately 53 grams of heroin inside. Inside the bedroom of Dennis Scarbro and Ashely Rhodes, the officer’s located several used needles, spoons with residue on them, and other items that would be used to do drugs with. Ashely Rhodes admitted that she and Scarbro allowed James Earl to come to there home to sell heroin and also admitted to being heroin addicts. Rhodes admitted to authorities that she and Scarbro were placing their son in a substantial risk of serious bodily injury. Authorities say the child was in danger of possible exposure to heroin or other diseases commonly associated with IV drug users.
Dennis Scarbro and Ashely Rhodes are both charged with child neglect and conspiracy to commit a felony. James Earl is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and possession with intent. All three are currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 50,000 dollar.
