ANSTED, WV (WOAY) – Two Ansted men are charged with felonies following a welfare check in Ansted.
Sheriff Mike Fridley says, on Friday afternoon, Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department aided Child Protective Services with a home check on children in Ansted. Upon arrival, the children were in the care of the father. Permission to search the home was provided by the mother, who arrived shortly thereafter. Found in the house were eight firearms, methamphetamine, a sizable amount of marijuana and cocaine. An intoxication evaluation was conducted by a Sheriff’s Department Drug Recognition Expert.
The father, 37-year-old Keith Crist of Ansted, is charged with two counts of Gross Child Neglect Creating Risk of Injury, Possession With Intent to Deliver Narcotics, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and eight counts of Prohibited Person in Possession of Firearms. Another male on scene at this time, 29-year-old Travis Huffman of Ansted, was also arrested for three counts of Possession With Intent to Deliver Narcotics and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
Both will now await court proceedings.
