Two arrested on drug charges in Raleigh County

COAL CITY, WV (WOAY) – Two are facing drug charges out of Coal City.

On August 4, 2020, Lieutenant R.R. White conducted a traffic stop in the Coal City area of Raleigh County.  The stop led to the discovery of a small quantity of heroin on the driver.  Upon interviewing the driver and passenger of the vehicle, they discovered that the drugs were purchased from a residence on Philpot Road in Coal City.

A search warrant was obtained for the suspect residence.  Upon executing the search warrant, deputies discovered 290 grams of suspected heroin.  This equated to 2,900 individuals does with an estimated value of 58,000 dollars.  Other items found to support the fact the drug was being sold form the residence.  Two firearms were also seized as well as over 35,000 in US Currency.

Marcus Ross, 28, along with his wife Jessica Ross, 29, both of Coal City, were charged with Possession of Schedule 1 Heroin with the Intent to Deliver and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.  They were taken to Southern Regional Jail to await arraignment before a Raleigh County Magistrate.

White was assisted by other members of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office and by the Sophia Police Department.
