Two arrested in McDowell County on several charges

WELCH, WV (WOAY) – Two people in McDowell County are arrested on several charges after traffic stops.
In the morning hours of Sunday, August 23, deputies conducted two traffic stops in the Welch area of McDowell County. One of the stops was Alicia Rowe of Berwind.  During the stop, deputies found a quantity of heroin and methamphetamine, and she was placed under arrest. She was charged with no seatbelt, unlawful possession of a schedule I controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a schedule II controlled substance. She was arraigned before Magistrate Daniel Mitchell and a bond of $2000 was set. She made bond and is awaiting trial.
The second traffic stop was conducted on  Derrick Matney of Caretta after investigation deputies found a large amount of heroin and crack cocaine. He was arrested and charged with failure to yield at a stop sign, DUI, driving revoked DUI, battery on a police officer, obstructing an Officer, possession with intent to deliver a schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a schedule II controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substance. He was arraigned before Magistrate Daniel Mitchell and a bond of $52000 was set. He was remanded into the McDowell County holding unit awaiting transport to the Southwestern Regional Jail.
