Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Wyoming County

MULLENS, WV (WOAY)- A traffic stop on April 3, 2020, near Mullens, resulted in the drug arrest of seven individuals.

According to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, a traffic stop was conducted where investigators seized 40 grams of fentanyl and a hand gun. Four individuals were charged in the arrest for possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

20 year old Cornell Archie, 22 year old Leemariyante Lewis, 20 year old Kentrell McKenzie and a 17 year old juvenile were all arrested and charged. Archie, Lewis and McKenzie were arraigned and remanded to Southern Regional Jail.

In the past month, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department has arrested or detained 7 individuals from the Akron area believed to be involved in the delivery of fentanyl which is believed to be the recent source of the increase of overdoses in the area.
