Tom Azinger chosen to fill vacancy in House of Delegates

CHARLESTON, WV (AP) — Former state lawmaker Tom Azinger of Vienna has been appointed to fill a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Gov. Jim Justice on Tuesday appointed Azinger to fill the vacancy in the 10th District.

Azinger fills the seat previously held by Del. Frank Deem, who died recently. The term ends in January.

Deem, a Republican, served in the legislature for decades.

Republicans recently chose Azinger to replace Deem on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

The governor’s office says Azinger previously served 10 consecutive terms in the House from 1995 to 2015.
