Tollbooth operator transported to hospital after semi strikes tollbooth

A tollbooth operator was transported to the hospital on the West Virginia Turnpike after a semi with an oversize load hit the tollbooth and knocked it off its foundation, a Turnpike dispatcher said.

The incident happened in the southbound lanes at Barrier C near Sharon about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, the dispatcher said.

The dispatcher said one tollbooth lane is shut down, and a lane for oversize vehicles also is shut down. Holiday travel is not expected to be impacted as a replacement booth is expected to be installed.
