Tip leads investigators to Oak Hill fugitive on the run for 6 months

OAK HILL, WV (NEWS RELEASE) – A fugitive who has been on the run for the past six months has been apprehended. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information concerning this arrest:

Law enforcement officers have been searching for Trisha Hancock, age 27, of Oak Hill for the past six months. She was wanted in connection with three felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance With Intent to Deliver. These charges stem from an investigation by the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force.

Earlier this afternoon the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Trisha Hancock was at a residence located at 379 Crawford Street in Oak Hill. Deputies E.A. Shrewsbury and J.W. Jensen responded to this residence and were able to apprehend Trisha Hancock without incident. She was arraigned in the Fayette County Magistrate Court where her bond was set at $25,000.00. She has not yet posted this bond but her custodial status has not yet been finalized.

“Tips from the public are one of the greatest assets that permit us to perform our duties more effectively and efficiently,” said Sheriff Fridley. “We greatly appreciate the tip that permitted us to apprehend this alleged drug dealer.” This incident remains under investigation by the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force.
