Three People Found Unresponsive In Buchanan County, VA Home

BUCHANAN COUNTY, VA (News Release) – On Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017, officials with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office and rescue personnel responded to a residence located on Wimmer Gap Road, located in the Whitewood section of Buchanan County Virginia, for three individuals found unresponsive in a residence.

The victims were an adult and two (2) juveniles. One of the juveniles, a seven (7) year old male was pronounced dead on scene.

The adult and the other juvenile were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Their condition at press time is unknown.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the death of the juvenile and the illness of the other two victims. At this time they believe the death and illness may be related to an alternate heat source used in the residence.

Sheriff Ray Foster would like to send his condolences to the family and friends of the victims. He urges everyone to make sure that if they use an alternate heat source in their home to ensure it has proper and adequate ventilation and have adequate and functional alarm devices installed.
