Three Mountain Lions Receive MEC Honors

WOAY – Concord junior Tommy Bolte is the Mountain East Conference Player of the Week for the third straight week, and the fifth time this season.

The Chillicothe, Ohio native averaged 40.5 points in the Mountain Lions’ wins over West Virginia State and UVa-Wise last week. His 49 points against the Yellow Jackets matched a Mountain East Conference single-game record, and he now has 13 games with at least 30 points. Concord faces Fairmont State in the MEC Tournament quarterfinals Friday at 2:15 PM.

The conference announced its women’s basketball honors Monday, with freshman Riley Fitzwater and sophomore Madison May both named to the league’s Second Team. Fitzwater had an average of 13 points and 11 rebounds per game, while May, a PikeView alumna, led the Lady Lions in scoring with 16.5 points per game. Concord women’s basketball will play in the MEC Tournament first round against Shepherd at 2:15 PM Wednesday.
