Three Charged In Huntington Homicide Investigation After Body Found

Three people have been charged with murder in a Huntington homicide investigation.

Police said Willie David Lane, 24, Michael R. Hughes, 51, and Virginia Louise Curry, 27, were taken into custody at noon Friday, according to a news release from the Huntington Police Department.

The arrests follow the discovery of a man’s body Friday morning at Seventh Avenue and First Street near the viaduct.

Midnight shift patrol officers were alerted by a passerby to an unresponsive individual behind the building early Friday. Officers located the body of a white male who was deceased.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Forensic Investigation Unit responded to the scene. By mid-morning, detectives had interviewed several witnesses and recovered evidence from several locations.

Lane was taken into custody at Harmony House on Fourth Avenue, while Hughes and Curry were taken into custody along the railway tracks near Eighth Street.

The suspects will appear before a Cabell County Magistrate later Friday.

The victim has not been identified yet. The body has been taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, which will determine the cause of death.

CSX Railway Police and officials with Kroger’s Loss Prevention Division assisted with the investigation.

The suspects had not been arraigned yet.
