SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (WOAY)- The state police detachment in Hinton received a complaint on Thursday about an elderly man who was kidnaped, beaten, and robbed.
It was revealed during the investigation that on Monday, three individuals of the Meadow Bridge/Rainelle area had taken 70-year-old Johnny J Simms to an abandoned residence in Summers County.
The individuals identified as Lataura E. Jarrett, 32, Wesely S. Taylor, 32, and Johnathan W. Cales, 24.
After taking Simms to the residence on Redden Hollow rd., Jarrett, Taylor, and Cales severely beat and robbed him of his money. They then tied Simms up with a rope and left him there. Sometime on Wednesday, Simms was able to free himself and get help.
Jarrett, Taylor, and Cales were arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Robbery, Assault During the Commision of a Felony, Malicious assault, and Conspiracy to Inflict Injury.
Taylor is currently at the Central Regional Jail, Jarrett and Cales are currently at the Southern Regional Jail. All three are currently be held without bond till their appearance before a judge.
