FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- Come one come all! The Historic Fayette Theater will be putting on the musical ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’.
This show tells the story of a greedy emperor who is wrapped up in his attire. So much so he is tricked into a new sense of fashion that no one expects. We talked to the emperor and empress ourselves to know more about why you should see it.
“I think this show is perfect for the family of all ages. It’s entertaining, it’s funny. It’s a little heartwarming at the end,” said Empress Plumptoe, played by Missy Strong.
“I think you get what you want from it, but there’s some good life lessons in it,” explained Emperor Plumptoe, played by Chad Lagos. “Like people trying to, fit in with the crowd, even though they know that what they’re seeing isn’t exactly truth or whatever. How that can come back to haunt you and, you know, sometimes you’re able to turn things around.”
While this show is good for all ages, good laughs, and learning some valuable lessons, the true reason to see is to support your local theater. The entire cast and crew are members of the community who have all put time and effort into this for you.
“I always tell my cast every year to bring the salt and that means to bring the flavor of whatever character they have. They need to bring the most flavor they can and leave the audience thirsting for more,” explained Sharon Bibb, Vice President of Historic Fayette Theater. “So pour on the salt and I hope the audience brings all the pepper and just peppers them with applause and laughter and makes everybody feel great and have a great time.”
The cast and crew all believe that this quirky show will give you some good laughs while bonding as a community. So if you want some silly spring fun, the Historic Fayette Theater isn’t joking around with that.
The show will run from March 28th to April 12th on Fridays and Saturdays. Shows will start at 7 pm on March 28th and 29th and on April 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th. Then on April 5th and 13th, they’ll have matinees at 2 pm.
