The city of Welch has received a grant of nearly $1 million

WELCH, WV U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that city of Welch has received a grant of nearly $1 million from the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Rural Development program to expand water service.

The $992,000 grant will fund expanding service in North Welch along West Virginia Route 16 to about 100 new customers.

“This grant invests in our infrastructure, expands access to safe drinking water, and ensures this system will continue to operate smoothly. I congratulate Welch on receiving this grant, and I will continue to fight for funding to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure,” Rep. Jenkins said.

A previously announced $1 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission will also be used to fund this project.
