OAK HILL, WV (WOAY)- “Get in losers!” Oak Hill High School is putting on the musical version of the 2004 hit film “Mean Girls.”
“Mean Girls” tells the story of Cady Heron, who transfers to a high school and faces all the drama that comes with it. This is a rock musical that came out in late 2017 and has been a hit on Broadway.
The students of Oak Hill are excited to bring the iconic early 2000s film to their stage, and “that’s so fetch!” While excited, the students are also nervous about bringing this iconic film to life.
“I mean, it’s definitely very stressful because like everybody knows, like Regina George, she’s like the queen bee. And I just yeah, it’s very, it is kind of stressful, but I feel good with it,” explained Maraeya Stewart, student playing Regina George.
“There’s some parts of the movie that, the known quotes, and when you get those quotes in the play, so you have to act them out, like how it’s acted out in the movie because that’s how everybody knows it by,” said Addison Coleman, student playing Karen Smith.
Nonetheless, they hope to honor the film, however, there’ll be some Oak Hill touches to it. Even though opening night is not on a Wednesday, they have one request for you.
“Come wearing pink.”
The show will run in their auditorium on May 8th, 9th, and 10th at 6 pm. You can buy tickets online using the QR codes below or at the door.
