Tazewell County Man Leads Police On Chase, Wanted On Nine Felony Charges

TAZEWELL COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – This afternoon deputies with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office got into a pursuit with a wanted suspect.

Nathan Dewey Looney, 32, is from the Maiden Springs area of Tazewell County.  Looney lost control of the vehicle he was driving and crashed over an embankment, deputies were able to take Looney into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Looney, a convicted felon was found to be in possession of two handguns, over $4,000 cash and over 4 1/2 ounces of methamphetamines as well as various other items used in the trafficking of narcotics; including, ledgers and scales.  Looney was already wanted by the Sheriff’s Office on nine felony charges involving fraud and theft charges.

No citizens or deputies were injured in this pursuit, there was no property damage except to Looney’s vehicle.

Looney is currently being held at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority, Tazewell Facility without bond. Looney is facing multiple additional charges stemming from today’s incident.
