Tazewell County Announces School Consolidation Due To Budget Shortfall

TAZEWELL, VA (WOAY) – The Tazewell County School Board has voted to consolidate two schools due to a budget shortfall.

The Tazewell County School Board announced Tuesday night during a board meeting that Raves Elementary and Springville Elementary will consolidate.  Funding had to be cut and one of the decisions were to consolidate schools.

Budget meetings are scheduled at the Tazewell County Career & Technical Center for June 22 and June 29 at 1:00 p.m.

Public Hearing meetings are scheduled at Tazewell Middle School on Monday, June 25th to discuss consolidation. The public hearing for Raven Elementary will be held at 6:00 p.m.; and, the public hearing for Springville Elementary will be held at 7:00 p.m.

The Tazewell County School Board voted that no employees will lose their jobs due to the consolidation of these schools.
