Suspect Still On The Loose After Robbery In Bluewell

Mercer County., WV (WOAY)– A man is still on the run after robbing a First Community Bank located in Bluewell.

Detectives say the incident took place yesterday at around 2:30 p.m. after a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. Detectives told Newswatch, that man was dressed in woman’s clothing.

Detective Addair with the Mercer County Sheriffs Dept said. “A male subject dressed as a female brandished a weapon and robbed the bank of 1,702 dollars.”

A getaway driver was on the scene and afterwards, both fled the bank. Later the suspects were pulled over during a routine traffic stop in Bluefield, VA the male subject then fled.

The female driver was arrested and has been identified as Kara Keen, she later was released by Bluefield VA police.

Addair adds, “Late last night there were differences between West Virginia and the State of Virginia’s paperwork at which time the female was released from Virginia stateside.”

Early this morning the woman turned herself into the Mercer County Sheriffs Dept.  she was later arraigned.

Keen has been charged with conspiracy, accessory and principle in second degree in robbery. She will be transported to Southern Regional Jail and has a bond of 30 thousand dollars in cash.

No new information has been released on the male suspect but Detectives believe the man has fled to another state.
