Happy Sunday folks. Stormy weather continues across southern West Virginia, with another active day expected tomorrow that could bring even more widespread coverage.
Today’s storm coverage remains mostly isolated to scattered across our counties, but don’t let the patchy nature of the activity fool you—any storm that develops has the potential to turn marginally strong. Gusty winds and small hail will be the main threats, though there is also a very low—but not zero—chance of a brief tornado in the area.
The unsettled pattern continues into tomorrow, which looks to bring another round of scattered storms during the afternoon as temperatures climb. Thankfully, the severe threat appears to decrease slightly for Monday, but showers and a few stronger cells will still be possible. If you see rain today, expect patchy fog during the early morning hours tomorrow, so make sure to drive with extra caution.
Looking ahead, the good news is that conditions begin to dry out by midweek. We’re expecting fewer rain chances heading toward the end of the week and into next weekend. Temperatures will run just a few degrees cooler than average on some days, but overall, we’ll be hovering near normal for this time of year.
If you can make it through these next two rainy days, it’s shaping up to be a pretty enjoyable week across southern West Virginia. Stick with WOAY for the latest updates.
