Stormy Pattern Will Give Way to Cooler Temperatures

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY-TV): A stubborn storm system will fuel occasional showers and storms this evening, but the pattern will repeat itself again Friday.

Chief Meteorologist Chad Merrill has the details:

FRIDAY INTO THE EVENING FOR FOOTBALL: Early Fog will give way to sunshine and then increasing clouds. Expect a round of showers and storms between 5-9 p.m. The rain and lightning will likely trigger a brief delay in one or two football games, best chance along I-77 and in the Greenbrier Valley.

WEEKEND: Stubborn low pressure will fuel occasional showers and temperatures will be cooler. Most spots will see about 1″ of rain through the weekend, but flooding is not expected.

NEXT WEEK: A cold front will trigger another round of showers Tuesday and Wednesday before fall returns on Thursday.

BEYOND LATE NEXT WEEK: Hurricane Lee is expected to become one of the strongest storms on record in the Atlantic as it churns north of the Caribbean Islands and then makes a beeline for landfall somewhere between the New England and southeast Canadian coast before accelerating north towards Greenland. Similar to previous large and strong hurricanes that have pushed poleward, it will likely draw a nice fall preview as far south as our region next weekend into early the following week.
