WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Storms will be isolated today, but the afternoon will see some severe weather due to a warm front coming through and atmospheric instability. Above is the outlook for today’s severe risks, where wind and water issues are the main concern. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the full forecast here:
Storms will come in rounds over the next few days, with today’s storms being isolated in the afternoon before a line comes through overnight. Both rounds will have potential for damaging winds and ponding of water due to previous precipitation with a possibility of smaller hail. However, this is not the crux of the storms this week.
Tomorrow carries a higher risk for severe weather than today, with storms being scattered and more organized than the isolated storms coming up today. Damaging winds are still he main concern, but hail and flooding risks are increasing on Friday and an isolated spin-up or two cannot be ruled out either. The first round of storms comes in the morning before a break in the afternoon. This is followed by the main event occurring in the evening and nighttime hours as strong to severe storms pass through. Make sure you have ample supplies and to keep devices charged before the storms come through. The severe weather outlook for Friday is below:
After Friday night, storms will weaken overnight into Saturday morning before being pushed away by a cold front in the early afternoon. These storms will not be severe on Saturday as they move away, as severe risk moves to the east coast. When these storms are pushed out, that will be the last of them for a few days, a much needed break from the storms we’ve had on and off all week.
Sunday and Monday will be beautiful with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s, making for the best days within the next week to do whatever outdoor activities and chores needed. The break won’t last forever, however, as rain does return to the extended forecast Tuesday in the form of isolated showers before storms pass through in the middle of the work week.
