WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Sun will bust out from behind the clouds and temperatures will warm into the 80s today and then changes return.
THIS AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THURSDAY: Sun will break out behind the low clouds this afternoon and the threat for severe weather stays west and south of our region. The northern fringe of a storm complex will trigger a few showers by daybreak Thursday.
THURSDAY AFTERNOON: The outflow boundary from a storm complex to the west will trigger a couple storms nearby in the afternoon. Those storms will be far and few between.
FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND: A trough pushing across the northern Rockies will bring scattered rain and thunder through the weekend. Yes, there will be sunny patches between rain. We are not expecting severe weather. Rainfall amounts will reach 0.50″ in many spots.
NEXT WEEK: Dry, warm weather returns early in the week and then a front will move south from the Upper Midwest to Northeast and likely stall along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Wednesday and Thursday are the only chances for rain in our region before the front retreats to the north. An expansive high pressure ridge will return to the entire Mid-Atlantic later in the week with hot, dry weather expected August 9-12.
