UPDATE: Man Charged With First Degree Murder In McDowell County

RAYSAL, WV (WOAY) – On Thursday, November 22, 2018, at 334 am, Trooper TS Rose and Senior Trooper JC Woods of the Welch Detachment responded to a shooting call at the residence of Shane Hagerman, 25, located in Raysal, McDowell County.

Upon arrival, the Troopers discovered a 41-year-old male victim outside with an apparent gunshot wound to the neck from a shotgun. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The investigation revealed an altercation had taken place within the residence before leading outside where Mr. Hagerman shot the victim. The investigation further revealed the two males were mutually acquainted by being prior in-laws.

Mr. Hagerman was taken into custody without incident and was arrested for 1st Degree Murder. He was processed at the Welch Detachment and remanded to the Welch.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – West Virginia State Police are investigating a homicide in McDowell County this morning.

According to State Police, the incident happened this morning at around 3:30 am in the Raysal area.  One person died of a gunshot wound.

Right now, police have one person in custody. No names have been released at this time.
